Find the place where you’ll find the gold……..

Every locality has many opportunities to network with the businesspersons you are targeting.  I can’t even try to list every possibility for every place, but here are some of the ways you can find out what’s going on around you:

Toastmasters - Most regions have a Toastmasters group.  For those who don’t know, Toastmasters is a group promoting excellence in public speaking.  Join them.  Not only will it provide invaluable help with making presentations and such, Toastmasters meetings can also be excellent networking opportunities because the group’s’ members come from all areas of business.  Plus, civic events will often be promoted through Toastmasters groups as well.

Chamber of Commerce - Your local Chamber is a tremendous resource.  There are opportunities to work with the Chamber, join committees that can expose you to new businesses. and so much more.  Many Chambers also host business groups that you can join for the purposes of promoting your business and networking with ohter businesses.

Lead sharing groups - You can often find these type of groups through the Chamber of Commerce - also be on the lookout for local business promotion groups and partnerships.  A lead sharing group will be a collection of salespeople from various local companies, and they will meet to trade leads with each other.  You may work with a particular company or individual that mentions a need in an area that one of your group members services.  So you introduce them to the member - and othe rmembers will do the same for you.

 

Above all, the bottom line is to constantly be on the lookout for new ways to meet with businesspeople in your area.  The wider the network you create, the more success you will have - and the easier your work will be!
