How do you find out what’s going on in the world?

Daily paper?  Internet?  TV?  Gossip?

Well, gossip usually isn’t the most effective,  but the other three have tremendous value, of course.  And they have one thing in common.

News.

Whatever the format,  you’re getting your information from a news source.

So……how will your customers find out what’s going on in YOUR world, and the world of your company?

News.  As in newsletter.

My plan consisted of a quarterly newsletter, sent out to every customer and prospect in my database.  I would send it via email to anyone whose email address I had, and via print mail to the rest.  And people loved it!  It didn’t feel like a sales tool, so they read it regularly.

So what do we put in our newsletter?  Anything you want.

Mine would consist of any upcoming product news, news on any changes within the company or new employees that might affect my customers, and then some fun stuff.

Fun stuff might include interesting facts, recipes, interviews with people within the industry, pictures from company events - whatever you can think of that might pique your customers/prospects interests.  This is the part that makes it feel less like a sales tool - even though anything that helps you interact with your prospects and customers is a terrific sales tool, and a great way to market YOU.
