The power of the Thank You note…….

Published by ndtii95 at 11:29 am under Prospecting Edit This

I’m sure everyone out there has been into a “dollar store” at some point in time.  Some of my favorite places to shop.  Of course, you’ve got to know what you’re buying, because some of the stuff isn’t quite as great a bargain as the price tag trumpets.

But I digress…..there is actually a point here.  Any time I’m in a dollar store (which is frequent), you’ll see me walking out with a few packages of “thank you” notes.

Cheapest marketing and prospecting investment you’ll ever make.  And a very important contact method to the ‘5 x 5′ prospecting system.

The second contact in the system (so the first time the prospect is a “mover”) should be a thank you note if the first contact was a visit or a phone call.  If it’s at all possible for your type of business, I recommend that your first attempt be a visit or a call - this way, you’ll learn something about the prospect right off the bat.

Then you follow that first contact with a Thank You note - very simple.  “Thank you, Mrs. Prospect, for the time you spent with me in your office on [date].  I enjoyed learning more about your operation, and I look forward to the opportunity to help you grow your business in the future.”

Nothing fancy, no hard sell.  Just a sincere expression of thanks, showing you value your prospect’s time.  Handwritten - no typing.  It’s a fantastic way to stand out from the crowd of salespeople who don’t take the effort to do something personal.

See you at the dollar store!

I like this idea! We send emails to our marketing clients, but is so much more personal!

I love the dollar store, but I hate selling stuff… Just wanted to drop by and say thanks for stopping by and commenting today. :)
