5 x 5…….it’s not math, don’t worry……..

Published by ndtii95 under Prospecting Edit This

We’ve been talking about putting together a prospecting system.  I’m going to give you an example of a system I’ve used in the past to make sure everyone is clear on the concept, and also to provide an idea that might just work for you, too.

It’s called the “5 x 5″ system.  I can’t take credit for this as an original idea - I learned it during a sales seminar a few years ago.  I wish I could remember the name of the trainer so I could assign proper credit, but unfortunately the disclaimer that it’s not my original will have to do.  Regardless, it proved very effective for me.  Here’s the basics.

5 “openers” and 5 “movers” every day.  Very simple.  An “opener” is a brand new prospect, one you’ve never contacted before.  A “mover” is one of two things - a prospect you’re currently working with who is moving through the sales process, or a previous opener that you are moving through the follow-up process from your original contact.

There is one more 5 to the system.  5 contacts with each opener over the course of 90 days.  So that would of course be once as an opener, and then 4 times on the movers list.

NEXT POST: We’ll look at a few methods of contact to work into this system (or your own plan, for that matter).

Now go sell something!
