An unscheduled post - Quick Hitter #3
Sports fans will know the name Tony Dungy. Dungy retired yesterday as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL. How does this relate to sales? Stay tuned.
Dungy was among the classiest men to ever walk an NFL sideline. Respected by fans, his peers and the media alike for his soft-spoken, no-nonsense approach, Dungy was also among the most successful coaches in NFL history, with this season marking NFL records for most consecutive 12-win seasons and most consecutive playoff appearances.
Everyone’s heard the sports cliche “Nice guys finish last.” Obviously not true.
Sales legend Zig Ziglar is fond of saying, “If you have a good person with good technique, you’ll have great results.” He is also known for saying “The customer doesn’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
Tony Dungy epitomizes those statements. His legacy is a fine example to anyone who wants to be a better person.
Or a better salesperson. If you genuinely care about your customers’ well-being and about how your product or service can make their life better, it will show - and you will ultimately be more successful.
NEXT POST: The previously promised investigation post.
Now go sell something!
