Start from the start……….
Riddle me this, sales pro…………how is your sales process like an NHL hockey playoff series?
It’s all about the start.
If you’ve been in sales for any length of time, you’ve probably heard the cliche about the “ABC’s of sales”……..Always Be Closing. Whoever created that line missed the boat.
In the NHL playoffs, history shows that the team winning Game 1 of the series is far more likely to emerge victorious. Win Game 2 as well, and the odds are almost overwhelming. And it’s not a hockey thing. The statistics are similar in baseball and basketball too, despite some minor differences in formats. Bottom line - getting off to a great start gives you a far better chance at closing the series.
Or the sale.
Open strong, and the sale will close itself throughout the process. Open weak, and you better be the best damn closer in the world.
So, how do we open strong?
