Decorate your bathroom, courtesy of 3M…….

Post-It Notes.  Fantastic for little reminders that you want to keep handy - even if you don’t have a corkboard everywhere you go.

But I’ll bet it never occurred to you to decorate your bathroom with them.

Welcome the the Post-It Note goal setting system, folks.  Courtesy of another of my favorite sales trainers, Jeffrey Gitomer (who will, coincidentally, make another appearance when we talk about the books we will be reading).

Very simple.  Pick three or four goals - not large items, but small pieces.  You don’t want to write your sales goal for the year here, but you might want to write a specific prospect that you’ve been struggling with.

Hang the Notes somewhere you will see them at the beginning over every day - this keeps the goals in the front of your mind.  The bathroom mirror makes a perfect spot, since you will certainly make a stop there before leaving the house.  At least I hope you would.

Now, the feel-good part……….as you accomplish a goal, the note gets moved to somewhere else you will see in the morning, as a reminder of what you’ve already accomplished.  I always keep a small corkboard behind my office door, where I hang my coat.  This way, as soon as I hit the office, before anything can go wrong or get me down, I get a positive boost.

Then, as goals start to disappear from the bathroom mirror, add new ones - again, keeping them small and making them applicable to your larger goals - this way you continually make progress toward the YOU that you aspire to become.

NEXT POST:  Better dig up that old library card………

Now go sell something!
