The power is in your hands……..use it wisely

Published by ndtii95 under Attitude Edit This

In his world-famous recording “The Strangest Secret”, legendary attitude guru Earl Nightengale said  ”You become what you think about all day long”.

Now, of course, he didn’t mean that if you think about cheese all day long, you will become a brick of cheddar.

But you might become a cheese expert.

Nightengale’s statement boils down the essence of the power of affirmations.  Simply put, YOU are in charge of the way you think, right?  Aaah, but if only it were that simple……..

There are outside influences on your thoughts.  Along with predetermined thought patterns that have been ingrained in your subconscious for years.  These patterns are what ultimately control your thoughts.

That’s what Nightengale’s statement is all about.  Breaking those patterns, so that you again control your thoughts.  And the most powerful phrase to help break those thought patterns?

I will.

As affirmations go, “I think I can” is actually a somewhat weak one.  “I will” is far more powerful.  Think about it.

“I think I can increase my sales by 10% this quarter.”

“I will increase my sales by 10% this quarter.”

If you THINK you can, you’ve given yourself an out.  Those negative thought patterns can allow you to get away with excuses - and your subconscious can rationalize it, because you only THOUGHT you could.

If you WILL do it, there’s no wiggle room - you break the pattern.

We’ll continue on that point next time, as we take a look at how to craft our affirmations.  In the meantime, have a safe and happy New Year!

NEXT POST:  “Do, or do not.  There is no try……….”

Now go sell something!
